Matthew's baptism

On 9 March, Matthew was baptised. He seemed to enjoy the water, but was even more taken with the candle. The service was lead by our minister, Alan, and Matthew's uncle, Michael, sang the song that he had composed for Matthew when he was born. It was wonderful to have much family and many friends there. We were also joined by Matthew's God-family, the Inglis, and his Godfather, John Davidge, in prayer from Cape Town.

He was baptised with little Hannah Shacklock - her legs can be seen waving in the air on the right side of one of the photos. She looked very cute in her white robe and pink crocs, but didn't take too kindly to being handed to a strange man who promptly doused her with water. Wise girl!

The service was followed by a family lunch, and a few days later by the planting of a tree in our garden to commemorate the occassion.
