Loving Labrador

Our dogs have had very little access to Matthew so far. Bella (the lab and my dog) has just sniffed him gently, but I don't think Eddie (the Bull Mastiff who is David's lovable oaf) has actually realised that there's a baby in the house- he could quite easily sit on him and not realise it.

While Matthew was lieing on his doughnut yesterday afternoon, Bella snuck up to him, lay down next to him and put one paw under him, the other on top and rested her head on his tummy! He thought it was great, and kicked her happily for quite a while - she probably thought he was patting her. Sweet dog...

Google Pietermaritzburg

So Pietermaritzburg has made it onto Google Earth - and here is a pic of our happy corner of the happy city. We're hoping to take over all the houses pictured by filling them with friends and family - any takers?

Snape abducts Matthew!

It turns out, after all these years, our friendly muggle neighbours are actually members of the wizarding community - all pure-bloods I believe.

And Ginny, Ron and Prof McGonagal (and Jonathan) don't seem too concerned that Snape is making off with Matthew.

So we've now started calling Matthew, The Boy Who Lived.

A week at the beach

In David's week of leave we went on our first family holiday - with huge thanks to the Shelwells at whose awesome Orsym Place we stayed - it's at Mtwalume on the South Coast.

Much of the time was spent reading and relaxing...

...but Matthew also made his first trip to the beach. He didn't look all that impressed.

And the less said about The Great Coffee and Couch Incident the better.

Over the weekend we had lunch at the bottom of our garden with the Inglis family and Granny Margie.

And here we all are on the banks of the Dorpsruit, which marks the edge of our property.
