What lies beneath...

David recently made a great discovery - underneath our 30 year old, threadbare carpets lies parquet flooring. I wasn't that impressed intially but anyone who knows anything about home decor gets very excited when we say that we have parquet flooring. It seems it is back in fashion. So our floors are currently being sanded and sealed.

Apparently new Parquet flooring costs about R400 per metre - this is costing us R70 per metre!

Visitors

In 2004 we spent a year at Mseleni Hospital in Northern KZN - with John and Lezel James. We were all child-free at the time - but the Bishop and James families are expanding rapidly! They spent a night with us last week, and it was great to meet their two girls, Jordan and Hannah.

Rain

A few weeks ago a huge storm turned our peaceful little stream into a raging torrent. I was very impressed, but David assures me that the river can rise much higher than this. I am grateful then that our house is about 10m above river level, so we hopefully won't ever be washed away.
